This roommate thing eeeehnn...😥 At least we most times get to pick our roommates during the hostel accommodation process unlike Akoka students that just hope to God they don't get a serial killer as a roomie 😂😂
.
There are a lot of things to be considered while picking a roommate tho. It's usually safe to go with a close friend but then, staying together and seeing the person up close and personal all the time brings a lot of their faults to light. Bonds of friendship are known to have been broken over little things like "She's too disorganized", "He piles plates after eating".

Basically you just have to learn to be very tolerant and maybe help each other's shortcomings.
Another thing that could be a deal breaker asides neatness is the subject of having "visitors" over. You know... When bae wants to come around.

Guys usually don't have problems with this. In fact, from experience, all the guys roommates begin to disappear with one flimsy excuse or the other immediately the gal comes in whether or not the guy and gal are in a relationship or not.
But gals... There's usually this "You don't expect me to leave the room" thing going on. That's if they even agree for the guy to even come in at all. You'll start hearing "I'm not dressed and I'm too hot/tired to put on clothes" or even from the beginning sef, they'll start clearing you that they don't want male visitors in the room.
Another major cause of discord among roommates is lack of respect for personal space and belongings. Some roommates can just turn your locker into their supermarket. Using your stuff without permission and all that shii.
For people like me that grew up in an environment where you're used to nobody messing with your shii, it can be really inconveniencing.
Whether you end up with an heaven-sent angel or an annoying demon is left to you and your perception of life.
The keywords in all this are TOLERANCE and COMPROMISE .
Take everyone with their faults and don't be unyielding on your bad habits with the excuse of "That's just my type of person" .
Live and let live.

Watch this space coz next week we'll be taking about students Organizations and associations in Medilag. I'm sure there are a lot of us that could use a bit of extracurricular activities away from the stress and seriousness of Medilag.
